What is General Dentistry

General dental treatments are in place to keep your mouth, gums, and teeth healthy and free of pain. General dentists are often considered in a similar way to a medical GP, their ultimate goal is to prevent and diagnose disease.

Dental Exams

A dental exam is at the centre of creating your personal dental plan. It allows us to clearly define what treatment is necessary for your continued oral health. A dental exam includes a thorough inspection of the tissues of your head and neck, jaw joints, mouth, teeth, and gums. Identifying any underlying oral health problems such as disease, tooth decay, gum disease and oral cancer.

Fillings

Fillings are used to treat tooth cavities and decay (holes in the teeth). Cavitated teeth are caused by a buildup of bacteria which use the sugar in your diet to create holes in your teeth and if not addressed early, further complications such as root infection and tooth loss could arise. Many cavities will go unnoticed and show no symptoms until they become much larger. Our dentists will be able to spot early signs of cavities and treat them before they become problematic.

Tooth extractions

When a tooth needs to be removed fully from the mouth, our dentists can carry this out quickly in a painless session. Although an extremely common procedure, your dentists will only remove a tooth when absolutely necessary. This is because a missing tooth can lead to further problems with the appearance of your teeth, the ability to eat and specific issues such as surrounding or opposing teeth shifting out of place.

Crowns & Bridges

If you have a tooth which is extensively damaged or at high risk of fracture, a dental crown restores the affected tooth and is designed to cover the damaged tooth, protecting it and improving its appearance.

A dental bridge is a fixed solution, which attaches to one or more adjacent teeth via crowns or metal wings to restore a gap in your smile.

Dentures

Dentures are removable prosthetic devices made of metal & plastic or completely plastic materials and are carefully crafted to fit your mouth, as a cost effective option to restore gaps in your smile, whether that be to replace one or a few missing teeth or all of your teeth in one or both jaws.

Hygiene therapy

Our hygienists and hygiene therapists offer a professional teeth cleaning service, a process called scaling and polishing, which helps to keep your gums healthy or treat gum disease.
