Bring the kids along
Gold and Platinum members can bring their dependent children, up to their 11th birthday, for a routine dental examination at no extra cost when they attend their own scheduled membership examination.
To qualify:

Your Gold or Platinum membership must be active.

Book your child’s examination in advance, at the same time as your own.

Each child needs their own appointment slot.

You must attend your own examination and accompany your child.
Good to know:

This covers routine examinations only. Treatment, X-rays, hygiene and emergency appointments are charged at our usual private fees.

Examinations booked separately, or where your child attends with someone else, are charged at our usual private examination fee.

This benefit stops on your child’s 11th birthday.
Children from age 11 up to their 18th birthday: continued care
As children grow, their mouths can change quickly, and regular check-ups become even more important.
From their 11th birthday up to their 18th birthday, dependent children can join for £7 per month, per child, added to a parent’s or guardian’s Gold or Platinum membership.
This includes:

One dental examination a year, or two if your dentist recommends it based on your child’s oral health

Routine bitewing X-rays every 24 months and priority appointment access

Membership Policies
General

All paid plans, including children’s membership, include routine bitewing X-rays every 24 months. Extra X-rays are available at a 10% discount.

Appointments must be taken within the membership year and cannot be carried forward.

Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Frequent cancellations may affect your ability to use membership benefits.

Worldwide emergency dental cover applies to the named member only. It does not extend to children or other family members.

10% discount on many treatments, including restorative care.
The discount does not apply to specialist or referral treatment (including endodontics, periodontics and oral surgery), dental implants, orthodontics, sedation, cosmetic treatments, facial aesthetics, laboratory fees, or treatments already offered at a promotional price. The discount applying to your treatment will be shown on your written treatment plan.
Children under 11

Routine examinations for dependent children under 11 are included only when booked at the same time as the member’s own scheduled membership examination. Each child needs a separate appointment slot.

The member must attend their own examination at the same visit and accompany the child.

Children’s examinations booked separately, or where the member does not attend, are charged at our standard private examination fee.

The benefit covers routine examinations only. Treatment, X-rays, hygiene and emergency appointments are charged at our standard private fees.

The benefit ends on the child’s 11th birthday.
Children aged 11–18

Children’s membership is available only as an add-on to an active Gold or Platinum membership held by the child’s parent or legal guardian.

If the parent’s or guardian’s membership ends, the child’s membership ends with it.

Children’s membership ends on the child’s 18th birthday, after which they can join as an adult member.

Children attending with another adult

We expect children to attend with their parent or legal guardian.

If another adult needs to bring a child, we require written consent from the parent or legal guardian before the appointment. The consent must name the accompanying adult, authorise them to consent to the examination, and allow us to discuss the child’s dental health with them.

The accompanying adult must bring photo ID.

Without written consent, the appointment will be rebooked.

For children under 11, these appointments are charged at our standard private fees.

Before you join
Our dentists will need to carry out a New Patient Exam before you sign up, which is £99.00, or £125 with Dr Limierick.
Our new patient exam is centred around getting to know you and your oral health. This ensures you join the plan that is best suited to your needs and goals.
Every new adult member will be charged a £10 sign up fee, which will be added to the first monthly payment only.

What about NHS appointments?
We are no longer operating an NHS service at Cottage Dental.
I'm a current 'pay as you go' patient, how do I sign up?
We will need to update your records at a private dental exam appointment before you sign up our plans. This is so our dentists can advise which plan will best suit your dental needs.
I'm a new patient, how do I sign up?
We ask all new patients to call our reception team on 01270 765771 to book a new patient dental exam which is £99.00 with our dentists, or £125 with Dr Sandy Limerick. This is so that our dentists can advise which plan will best suit your dental needs before you join.
Can I bring my children?
Children under 11 get a routine examination included when they attend with you at your own scheduled membership examination. Treatment, X-rays, hygiene and emergency appointments are charged at our standard private fees.
Can I book my child’s examination on a different day to mine?
Yes, but it will be charged at our standard private examination fee. To use the included examination, it must be booked alongside your own.
Can someone else bring my child to their appointment?
We prefer children to attend with a parent or legal guardian. If someone else needs to bring them, we need your written consent in advance, naming that person and allowing us to examine your child and discuss their dental health with them. They will also need to bring photo ID. This protects your child’s care and their personal information. Please ask reception for a consent form.
What happens when my child turns 11?
They can join our children’s membership for £7 per month, added to your Gold or Platinum plan, or continue on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Is there a sign up fee?
Yes. Every new adult member will be charged a £10 sign up fee, which will be added to the first monthly payment.
What are your Private and Plan treatment Prices?
Please visit our private pay-as-you-go prices. Please note these are subject to change.
Are there other plans available?
Yes. We do have more tailored hygiene and denture plans. These will be explained, costs outlined and offered by your dentist if neccessary.
What if I don’t want to join?
If you don’t wish to become a member, we will happily continue seeing you on a pay-as-you-go basis. You’ll pay for appointments as you go, and won’t get the monthly payments, the 10% discount on many treatments, worldwide emergency dental cover, or included routine examinations for your children under 11.
Appointment cancellations and rescheduling
Members are encouraged to attend their scheduled appointments. Frequent cancellations or rescheduling of appointments may result in the forfeiture of your plan benefits for that period. Refunds will not be issued for missed or unfulfilled services. See our cancellation policy.
Hygiene appointments and exams must be taken within the membership year and cannot be rolled over to the next year.
